This design contains many innovative ideas from both the builder and designer aimed at developing a cost-effective VSP tug for the world market. Danish towage specialist Svitzer has ordered two additional ASD tugs from Sanmar Shipyards in Türkiye to service the Inpex-operated Ichthys LNG project in Darwin, Australia. Delivery of the two newbuilds is scheduled for 2017 when they will join the two existing vessels in assisting LNG, LPG and condensate carriers at the port of Darwin.
These vessels have successfully responded to the demands of customers looking for 30m - 32m tugbboats. But in time, due to the changing demands of customers, we have felt the need for a new 32m design, under 500GRT, with 80-90 tonnes BP, and started developing it.
Sanmar has installed a new floating dock at its custom built ship building yard in Altinova, Türkiye. The Rina-classed dock has been developed not only as a standard floating dock but as a tool to facilitate the launching of newly built vessels.
